GOA- THE CITY WITH A SOUL

Image
GOA has always been a place that is looked forward to. But like we all know, there were umpty restrictions because of Covid-19. And all of us, became still in our lives for a year and a half. Everyone stopped travelling and no one used phrases like “GOA IS ON” anymore. Today I would like to write about my experiences in Goa, pre Covid. QUERIM BEACH,GOA A place everyone wants to go to at any time of the year- GOA . For joy, for excitement, for a break, some even for food and beverages. But honestly, I felt something else on going there for the first time. It felt like detangling from reality. I travelled to Goa for the first time in 2012 with my mom and a couple of her friends. It is safe to say, that I was too young at that time to grasp all the state’s marvellousness. But we went by road and I was travelling for 12 hours at a stretch for the first time so it was a bit intriguing. That is almost all the memory I have as the outcome of the trip. And that is exactly why, that ...

WHY DO WE THINK BEING IN A RELATIONSHIP EQUATES TO STABILITY?

Image
Many a times, we come across statements like, “Oh you’re dating? Life toh set hi hai na fir!” I’d like to raise a question to that. Why do we predominantly assume that the person’s life is on the right track if he/she is in a relationship? It is safe to say, that a relationship (for that matter, any relationship) is a PART of our lives. One may share each and every excrutiating detail about life to his partner, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that the person may then automatically, live a pain-free or “sane” life. As aforementioned, a relationship we are in, is a part of our life and NOT our entire life. One can be in a mature, loving and healthy relationship and not be okay about other things in life, at the same time. We just need to normalize the fact, that an unstable person CAN be in a relationship. Who isn’t mentally unstable nowadays? The times are bad, and worse for committed people when we assume their life is perfectly fine, simply because they’re in a relationship. S...

ARE YOU BEING SARCASTIC OR INSENSITIVE?

Image
Imagine, you just had a rough fight with your best friend over something sensitive and you both bump into each other at the same party that weekend. You still haven’t resolved the fight and are not on talking terms with each other, but there are way too many mutual friends at the party and you can’t avoid them. You and your friend are standing with the same group of people and suddenly your friend goes, “It’s funny what happened yesterday!” and goes about saying something you wouldn’t imagine. He/She starts to talk about the root of the fight you had. She blurts out something superlatively offensive. Oh but wait, everyone’s laughing! Calling your friends out on their insecurities is not fun guys. Even if you think, it is world class humor, trust me it doesn’t hurt less, than being stabbed in the back. Sardonic humor might be your way of relating to the world, but let me tell you, the world doesn’t work that way. People get hurt, they might even lose their self-esteem. It might be a...

INFIDELITY AS I SEE IT

Image
INFIDELITY. IS IT A BIGGER CONCEPT THAN WE THINK? Is Infidelity found only in relationships? Or is it bigger than that? Infidelity is defined as “Violation of a moral obligation” Do we morally oblige ourselves at times? For an example, let’s take into consideration a boy named Rahul. He is in the 12 th grade, he has a stable relationship with his parents and is also very focused about his career. He isn’t overly ambitious but has some goals that he wants to fulfill. The day arrives. The day when he has to go for an internship interview which is going to award him with such a good experience. He decides he wants to go, but on that day, he tells himself, “I will get into a good university, no matter what.” And without any internal cross-questioning, he decides against going for the interview. The problem here might be anything- subconsciously being anxious or having a mild fear of failure. But don’t we all do this? Decide one thi...

PARENT APPRECIATION POST

Image
22nd MAY 2021, 2:17 PM: When I say I got lucky in the parent’s department, I mean it. I don’t know how they do it, but they never fail to amaze me by doing things silently. I have always been a confused and indecisive child, and I don’t think I will ever stop being that, because I know I have a place to go to. I have a home. Someone rightly said that a “home” doesn’t always have to be a place, it can also be a person, an entity or even a notion. My home has always been Aai Baba and I never plan to change that. It’s been a rough time for the three of us, more for them. And it was all because of me. Yes, we’re almost past that now, but I don’t think I will ever be able to forgive myself for the two years of absolute stress I let them go through. But they did. They forgave me, time and again.  Which is why I know for a fact that I got the best parents, the best friends and the best supporters. Because I don’t know whether I will be okay in the future, but they sure do . And th...
